About This Archive
This is an independent reading archive of ladycliff.org, the website of the Ladycliff College Alumnae Association, as it existed between 2004 and 2022. It was rebuilt from Wayback Machine captures of the original pages. It is not the alumnae association, it is not connected to the Franciscan Sisters or to West Point, and nobody involved in the original site maintains it. The purpose is to keep the texts readable: the college history, the alumnae journal, the guestbook, and the news pages, which otherwise survive only as scattered snapshots.
What was restored: the full text of every page that could be recovered, including the history of the college with its list of presidents, Linda Buzzeo Best's notes on her book and on the Town of Highlands Historical Society, the journal entries sent in by alumnae, the guestbook, the news and events pages with reunion notices and obituaries, the Gray Matter article from West Point, and the story of the 1905 watercolor. Spelling and phrasing are left as written. Signatures and class years stay where the writers put them.
What was removed: personal contact details of every kind, meaning email addresses, phone numbers, and postal addresses, including the association's post office box. Also gone are the order form for the book, the instructions for paying dues and sending donations, a page listing graduates whose addresses had been lost, and the instructions for requesting a transcript. Those pages served a living organization and have no use here. Where a sentence pointed to a removed form or address, the pointer was cut and the rest of the sentence left intact.
The photographs on the gallery page are early twentieth century postcards of Lady Cliff Academy, Highland Falls, the Hudson, and Buttermilk Falls, together with campus views taken from the old site's own gallery. This archive cannot process transcript requests, holds no student records, and cannot forward a message to any alumna, board member, or family member named on these pages. The college closed in 1980, and nothing of that kind exists here. If a name on these pages is yours, the words were kept as you wrote them.
